Tools of the Trade Grant Now Available for 2026
The NYSBA Research & Education Foundation is offering $500 Tools of the Trade Grants to help new residential construction workers cover the cost of tools, equipment, and work clothing.
Helping New Tradespeople Get to Work
The NYSBA Research & Education Foundation (REF) is offering its Tools of the Trade Grant to support people entering the residential construction industry. One of the biggest barriers for new tradespeople is the up-front cost of the equipment and supplies they need to start working — this grant is designed to help remove it.
About the Grant
For 2026, the Tools of the Trade Grant awards $500 per recipient to help cover the cost of:
- Tools
- Equipment
- Work clothing
Who Can Apply?
Eligible applicants must:
- Aspire to a career in residential construction
- Work for a residential construction company in New York State
Availability
For the first 30 days, one grant is available per New York State region (as defined in the REF Bylaws). After that period, grants are awarded based on availability through November 30, 2026, so early applications are encouraged.
